About this day nursery

30am to 6pm, excluding bank holidays. Established in 1972, the pre-school warmly greets children, fostering a happy and confident entry into the setting.

The leaders and managers have developed a clear curriculum designed to support children's development in various skills. Staff encourage good manners, positive behaviour, and help children recognise core emotions.

Outdoor play is a valued part of the day, with a designated safe area for trikes and cars, and a secure enclosed space for younger babies to keep them safe from more active older children. Babies enjoy seeing their older siblings during outside play, and older children mingle with younger ones under supervision, supporting social development.

For children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), personalised learning plans are in place and effectively used during focused activities. The manager is the new Special Educational Needs Coordinator, with another staff member undertaking training to support this role.

The pre-school fosters an understanding of the natural world, with children learning to care for living things by watering vegetables and flowers they have planted. Safeguarding arrangements are effective, with a positive culture that prioritises children's interests.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are encouraged to identify a named fruit between two different choices. The manager is the new special educational needs coordinator, and another staff member is also undertaking training to support her in this role. Personalised learning plans are in place for children with SEND, and these are implemented well during focused activities. However, targeted interventions to support the communication skills of children with SEND are not consistently used during free-play opportunities.

Outdoor space

During outside play, babies enjoy seeing their older siblings, and their faces light up when their siblings come over to say hello. Children learn to safely use the designated space for riding trikes and cars. Staff provide an enclosed, secure area for younger babies who are not yet walking, to keep them safe from the more active older children.

I just wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for everything you do—not just for my child, but for all the children in your care. Too often, the incredible impact of nursery settings goes unnoticed, yet the work you do in these early years truly shapes the foundation for a lifetime. Most people don’t fully grasp just how crucial the first five years of life are. If I weren’t so passionate about how the brain develops, I might not have either. These years are not just about learning ABCs and counting; they are about forming a child’s sense of self, their ability to navigate emotions, and their understanding of right and wrong. You help them build resilience, self-regulation, and confidence—all of which will guide them long after they leave your care. What you and your team do each day—teaching, nurturing, encouraging—sets the tone for their future. The patience, kindness, and dedication you all show are not just making a difference now; they are shaping the adults they will become. That is no small thing. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for all your passion, your energy, and the love you pour into your work. Thank you for creating a safe and inspiring space where children can learn, grow, and truly be themselves. With gratitude, Naomi x
