About this day nursery

Toybox Children's Nursery is an all-year provider in Sheffield for children aged from birth to four years. The day nursery received an Outstanding rating from Ofsted following an inspection in November 2024. The inspector reported that children thrive, settle with ease, and show high levels of engagement in activities. According to Ofsted, the educational programme is ambitious, and the curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all children, who are supported to be independent. The report also noted a culture of respect, with exemplary behaviour.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported and make excellent progress. Ofsted highlighted the focus on developing communication skills through high-quality adult interactions. In the outdoor area, children participate in physical activities, including running and climbing, and engage in imaginative play in the mud kitchen.

We celebrate the individuality of our children, encourage them to think and work through situations for themselves, provide resources and support to allow them to express themselves creatively all whilst building a network of support and feeling of mutual respect for one another to give children a sense of belonging in something bigger.

Children thrive at this warm and welcoming setting, arriving eagerly and forming nurturing bonds with adults. They show extremely high levels of engagement in various activities, from musical instruments to imaginative play and physical development outdoors. The educational programmes are exceptionally ambitious, providing targeted teaching that ensures all children make excellent progress.

Pricing & funding

Charges are based on a flat hourly rate for all children, including hours above free entitlement. Fees include snacks and nappies for children under two. Optional charges apply for breakfast, afternoon tea snacks, and hot lunches, though parents may choose to provide their own food.
