About this day nursery

Toybox Day Nursery, established in 1990, has been providing exceptional childcare services in East Grinstead for over three decades. For a significant period, it operated within the grounds of the notable Queen Victoria Hospital.

In December 2009, the nursery relocated to a purpose-built facility on Coombe Hill Road. Since 2009, Toybox has consistently received an 'Outstanding' rating from Ofsted, reflecting its commitment to high-quality care and education.

The nursery offers a nurturing environment with bright and colourful interiors, situated within private woodland surroundings. It boasts a spacious enclosed garden and ample parking, conveniently located away from main roads.

Toybox is registered to accommodate children from 4 months to 5 years old, offering flexible full-time and part-time day care from 7:15 am to 6:00 pm. The dedicated staff, many of whom have been with Toybox for many years, are highly experienced and hold childcare qualifications ranging from NVQ Level 2 to Degree Level 6, with regular updates in Paediatric First Aid and Child Protection training.

The nursery actively supports eligible families in claiming Early Years Funded Entitlement (EYFE) for children aged 9 months and older.

Pricing & funding

This nursery charges separate rates for children aged 0-2 years and 2-5 years. Fees are based on half-day or full-day sessions, with half-hourly rates available for early mornings, late afternoons, or standard hours. Invoices are issued weekly, and a deposit is required per half-day session booked.

  • A non-refundable registration fee applies, with an exemption for children accessing only EYFE.
  • Four weeks' written notice is required to alter or relinquish a space.
  • Two free holiday weeks are allowed per year with four weeks' notice.

  • Invoices are issued weekly, with a maximum of four outstanding invoices allowed at any time.
  • The first six out of eight settling-in sessions are free of charge.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are highly included. Through meticulous assessment, staff swiftly identify gaps in children's learning and development, actively and effectively seeking support from specialist staff and designing activities to promote their development and integration. Specialist staff liaise very effectively with other professionals when required to support children's individual needs.

Outdoor space
