The University of Chester's Kingsway Buildings Nursery, located at the Creative Campus, offers comprehensive childcare services for children up to five years old. Recognising the diverse needs of its community, the university extends support to student parents, whether they are expecting a child, already have children, or are returning to their studies after childbirth.
The nursery operates Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, throughout the year, with closure only on bank holidays. Students enrolled at the university can apply for reduced-cost nursery places and have the option of term-time-only attendance, aligning with their academic schedules.
This support extends beyond the nursery itself, with the Wellbeing and Mental Health team providing guidance, conducting pregnancy support plans, and offering a Student Parent Support Network. Additionally, the university provides information on various financial aid options for student parents, including childcare grants and parents' learning allowances from Student Finance England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

The special educational needs coordinator makes prompt referrals to other agencies. She follows advice from professionals and puts appropriate support plans in place. This helps children with special educational needs and/or disabilities make good progress from their starting points.
Children have opportunities to balance and climb in the outdoor area. They ride around outside on balance bicycles and scooters. This helps to develop children's large-muscle movements.
