About this day nursery

West Wight Nursery, established in 1992, is situated on the grounds of St. Saviour's Catholic Primary School in Totland. This community-focused nursery accommodates children ranging from 3 months to 12 years old.

The staff are dedicated to delivering education and care in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, fostering learning and development through a blend of child-initiated and adult-led play activities. An Ofsted report from 2022 highlighted that children flourish at the nursery, achieving at high levels and developing crucial life skills.

Each child's progress is documented in a personal learning journey file that is shared with parents when the child leaves. The nursery also collaborates with Isle of Wight Family Hubs & Centre Services, offering various parenting programmes and support.

As a registered charity, West Wight Nursery actively engages in fundraising efforts to support its operations. They also provide information regarding Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) support in conjunction with the Isle of Wight Council.

How they support every child

SEND provision

For all children, including those with special educational needs/and or disabilities and those in receipt of additional funding, progress is exceptional. For some children who start slightly behind their peers, they are helped to catch up very quickly. When some children start slightly behind in their speaking skills, staff swiftly enable them to quickly catch up with their peers.

Outdoor space

Staff are deployed effectively, both indoors and outside. They keep children under their close supervision, reminding them about how to keep themselves safe.
