Westgate Pre-School, established in 2001 and situated within St Martins Church centre in Morecambe, provides flexible childcare for children aged 2-4 years during term time. The nursery received a 'Good' rating in all areas during its September 2017 Ofsted inspection.

It is committed to a play-based learning approach, offering a diverse array of hands-on experiences facilitated by qualified and highly motivated practitioners. The preschool prioritises equality of opportunity for all involved within the setting.

They offer a snack and drinks throughout the day, requiring parents to provide a healthy packed lunch. Westgate Pre-School also supports parents by providing holiday dates and links to further information and resources, including home learning guides and curriculum details.

We believe that children learn through play. We aim to provide a wide range of hands on experiences combined with highly motivated qualified practitioners that can ensure that the children benefit from these experiences. We aim to work within a framework that provides equality of opportunity for everyone involved within the setting.

How they support every child

SEND provision

The knowledgeable special educational needs coordinator works in partnership with agencies and the families of children who need additional support. She talks confidently about the progress they make and understands what they need to learn next. As a result, children's needs are being met.

Outdoor space

The environments both indoors and outdoors are arranged to encourage children to navigate around the setting. They confidently select resources and join activities, such as playing in the den and pretending it is a cave from a story.
