Children are warmly welcomed by staff who understand their individual needs and interests, fostering an environment where children happily engage in activities upon arrival. The nursery places a strong emphasis on promoting independence; for example, children practice washing painted plates, serving their own lunch, and pouring their own drinks.
Resources are easily accessible, encouraging children to make their own choices. The robust outdoor learning environment allows children to explore their surroundings, such as using magnifying glasses to observe worms in the garden.
The nursery also places importance on healthy eating, oral hygiene, and general well-being. An experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) works closely with key persons, families, and external agencies to provide timely interventions and targeted support, ensuring that all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make good progress.
Staff maintain high expectations for children's manners and behaviour, creating a safe and secure space for learning and development. The nursery benefits from a highly effective key-person system and a comprehensive staff training plan, ensuring a knowledgeable and qualified team.

As a result, children, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make good progress in their learning and development. The nursery's special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) is experienced in her role. She is knowledgeable about the children who attend that require additional support. The SENCo works closely with each child's key person, families and agencies to ensure that they receive timely interventions and targeted support to meet their development needs. This ensures that children continue to make good progress in their learning and development.
For instance, when children find a worm in the garden, they collect magnifying glasses to watch as the worm goes into the soil. Children proudly demonstrate how they put on their own coats.
Lovely nursery. My daughter and nephew loved being in there, always learning and having fun. My daughter left when she was 4, now she's nearly 7 and keeps talking about the lovely staff and friends she left there. Can't wait to bring my little one to start her nursery journey with them.
Read on GoogleWestside day nursery is an excellent nursery, it has fantastic outside play area that the children can access any time they like. Lots of things for them to enjoy inside too from cosy corners for story time to lots of ways to be crafty and creative. Each child is nurtured and encouraged. The food for the children is great and they are only too happy to accommodate any extra needs your child might have. The staff are wonderful, helpful and reassuring. They have days through the year when parents can go and play alongside their children and see a bit of what they get up to. They also have had fun days with bouncy castles and face painting. This really is an excellent nursery and we love it
