Wetherby House Montessori, established in 2012, is dedicated to providing Montessori Early Childhood Education for children aged 9 months to 5 years. With six locations across London, including Northwood, Harrow, Kensal Rise, Kensal Village, Brondesbury, and a forthcoming opening in Queens Park in September 2026, the nursery group focuses on fostering a positive, safe, healthy, and nurturing environment where children can flourish.
Their core mission revolves around making learning enjoyable and joyful, cultivating self-confident individuals, encouraging curiosity, and preparing children for future educational success by instilling positive "can-do" attitudes. The philosophy is deeply rooted in the Montessori method, which emphasises guidance without overt interference, allowing children to develop independently and at their own pace.
They aim to ignite a love for learning by presenting concepts in beautiful and clear ways that stimulate imagination, believing that this approach resolves many educational challenges. The nursery encourages visits, offering both open days and personal tours, to ensure parents feel confident in their choice.
They also offer a structured admissions process, including a registration fee and a deposit to secure a child's place.
Our ethos
At Wetherby House Montessori, we support your child’s social, emotional, creative and learning development while providing a positive, safe, healthy and nurturing place for them to thrive. In early childhood education (9 months - 5 years) our goals are: 1) make learning fun and joyful 2) grow self confident children,3) encourage curiosity, 4) set children up for educational success 5) establish positive "can do" attitudes". We believe that "The child should love everything that he learns, for his mental and emotional growths are linked. Whatever is presented to him must be made beautiful and clear, striking his imagination. Once this love has been kindled, all problems confronting the educationalist will disappear.

Inclusion & environment
Staff work closely with parents and external professionals to support all children, particularly children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). For example, they have regular conversations as a multi-agency team on what the child is doing well and how they can support them to develop further. This helps all children, including those with SEND, to make the best possible progress across the seven areas of learning and development.
In the garden, children collect water to help their friends to water herbs and vegetables. Children plant and grow herbs and vegetables in the garden while talking with staff about what they are doing.
My twins started here in june and i could not be happier. My girls have settled beautifully. I come back to pick them up and I'm greeted with little smiles, clean nappies, and clean faces. Bliss! I started out as an anxious parent, phoned a few hundred times a day to check if my precious bundles were ok, and each time i phoned i was greeted (patiently!) by a friendly voice and the member of staff happily went up to check on them and reassure me. The management are very accommodating, willing to accept feedback and to adjust your child's care to suit you. The staff are caring and considerate and loving, and always ready to listen if i have any concerns. Every montessori/nursery has its share of small issues and problems, but Wetherby House is professional and well run and rectifies any issues as soon as physically possible without the need for fuss. And on a side note, the food is freshly made on site, what a bonus, and the variety means my kids are not fussy eaters! thank you Wetherby House! I would recommend this montesorri to anyone who wants a calm, caring, nurturing environment for their child. With regards to the negative review...any time my child has been hurt in any way i receive a call, and an accident form to sign when i come and collect. No where have i found the staff to lie or fabricate and yes, the owners smile is what helped make my decision too but that same smile helps to keep the atmosphere of the place happy, and she genuinely cares about the children. Yes there have been a few staff changes even since mine started in June but Shamyka and her team have done everything possible to make these transitions as smooth as possible so as not to overwhelm the children, and I'm still smiling.
