Wind In The Willows Childcare in Bootle provides care for children from birth to four years old. The day nursery is open on weekdays from 7.30am to 6pm and offers funded places for eligible two, three, and four-year-olds. Ofsted inspected the setting in June 2023 and judged its overall effectiveness to be Outstanding.
The inspector reported that the curriculum is detailed and staff use their knowledge of children’s interests to plan activities. Children are encouraged to be independent, for instance by serving their own lunch and pouring drinks. Provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities was described by Ofsted as excellent, with a knowledgeable coordinator and effective one-to-one support. Parents told the inspector they felt included in their child's learning through home learning packs, and noted that the provider offers cooking classes to help families make affordable meals.

SEND provision
Provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities is excellent. The special educational needs and disabilities coordinator is extremely knowledgeable and skilled. Staff quickly identify any developmental concerns. The manager provides children with additional one-to-one support. This is highly effective in narrowing any gaps in development.
Outdoor space
When it is time to go outside, children excitedly find their hats and help their friends. Children remind staff to put sun cream on to 'keep them safe' before lining up to go outside.
