About this day nursery

Woodberry Down Children and Family Hub Nursery, registered with Ofsted in 2012, provides a nurturing environment for children aged 2 to 4 years. Open all year round, it was rated "Good" by Ofsted in its latest inspection on 25th July 2023.

The day nursery fosters a calm and purposeful atmosphere where children thrive and make good progress in their learning, exploring stimulating resources and activities independently. The curriculum is thoughtfully planned to meet the individual needs of each child, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

Staff are adept at identifying children who may require additional support, and managers prudently use additional funding to ensure these children meet their developmental targets, including one-to-one support when necessary. The setting benefits from its integration within the children's centre, allowing staff to collaborate on targeted intervention programmes.

Managers have a strong understanding of the local community, which informs a curriculum focused on key skills essential for future learning. Children enjoy daily access to safe indoor and outdoor play spaces, promoting continuous learning and development.

Overall teaching practices are good, with staff engaging in children's play to extend their ideas and skills, and supporting children in developing essential early literacy and numeracy skills, such as counting, recognising numbers and shapes, and refining small-muscle skills for writing.

The curriculum is planned to meet the needs of individual children, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Staff swiftly identify those children who may need additional support. Managers use additional funding wisely to ensure that these children meet their planned targets and make good progress. This includes allocating staff to provide one-to-one support, if appropriate.

Outdoor space

I live nearby, they have an alarm that goes off frequently and when it goes off overnight it doesn’t get turned off until the next working day. There’s been whole bank holiday weekends it has gone off for 48hrs+ at a time. Can hear it throughout our whole apartment. Spoken to a staff member on the phone multiple times, they can reset it but don’t know how to actually fix the problem and figure out what is setting the alarm off consistently or just disable it fully. Shows a lack of care for their neighbours.

The Children and Family Hub is now open on Saturdays, from this month there will be Step into Music sessions for under 5's and Adult Yoga with a creche. So much exciting sessions for our children and families throughout the week. Please come and drop in for an activity calendar and to find out more about the services provided.

They offer all kinds of activities for children and put in a lot of effort in all aspects. We went to the baby massage and the instructor Esther has just been amazing. Knowledgeable, kind, caring, patient. Would highly recommend taking any class there.
