Our ethos
Woodentots Hive creates a beautiful home from home experience with Montessori and Waldorf toys that promote our blended approach to support child – led learning through using their senses, true to the Woodentots ethos creativity and nature is at its core. Loose part and sensory play are important towards babies’ development to become independent and creative learners. Much of our resources will offer open-ended experiences rather than traditional toys. These types of experiences build up self – confidence, concentration, coordination and independence – some of the pillars of Montessori.

Inclusion & environment
This nursery is nature orientated; for example, reusable cloths are used and materials are recycled. Children build an awareness of the natural environment around them but also of how to be sustainable. Children who are confident walkers go to weekly forest school, where they can further explore nature and engage in physical development such as climbing.
Children who speak English as an additional language are also supported well. For example, when reading a story, staff name animals in different languages and describe what they look like.
