Every day healthy, nutritious and balanced meals are freshly prepared
The Woodlands Day Nursery and Pre-School in Goole, which opened its doors in October 1997, celebrated 28 years of providing childcare in October 2025. It is housed in a purpose-built, single-story building surrounded by a large, secure outdoor play area with various activities and rural views.
The nursery aims to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere to help children feel settled and secure. Its facilities include a bright baby room with a separate sleep area and outdoor access, a toddler room equipped with toys, activities, and relaxation spaces, also with outdoor access, and a spacious open-plan area for 2-4 year olds that opens onto a paved, covered area then the outdoor play area.
All age groups engage in learning activities and purposeful play, guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. The nursery accepts various government funding options, including 15-hour and 30-hour schemes for eligible children, and offers a discounted rate for NHS employees.
Meals are freshly prepared, nutritious, and balanced, forming part of an affordable pricing plan. The nursery strongly believes in learning through play, viewing it as a primary method for children to develop self-worth and concentration skills.
Our ethos
Play is one of the main ways in which children learn. It helps to build self worth by giving a child a sense of his or her own abilities and to feel good about themselves. Because it’s fun, children often become very absorbed in what they are doing. In turn, this helps them develop the ability to concentrate.

Parents speak highly about the service they receive. They comment that staff are welcoming, friendly and caring. Parents value the excellent communication that they receive about their children.
Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are very well supported. The dedicated coordinator works with families and external agencies to ensure developmental and emotional needs are met, and through early intervention and targeted support, children with SEND are included in every aspect of the nursery, helping them make the best possible progress.
Children very much enjoy playing outdoors in the fresh air and have regular access to outdoor areas with a wealth of resources and learning experiences. They practice physical skills like climbing and balancing, use their imaginations to make mud pies, and learn about where food comes from by planting and growing herbs and vegetables.
Brilliant day nursery that has looked after members of my family for a number of years now, the staff are very friendly and the care towards the children is excellent. This nursery is a great introduction to the children’s school life.
