About this day nursery

The Woodlands Day Nursery and Pre-School in Goole, which opened its doors in October 1997, celebrated 28 years of providing childcare in October 2025. It is housed in a purpose-built, single-story building surrounded by a large, secure outdoor play area with various activities and rural views.

The nursery aims to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere to help children feel settled and secure. Its facilities include a bright baby room with a separate sleep area and outdoor access, a toddler room equipped with toys, activities, and relaxation spaces, also with outdoor access, and a spacious open-plan area for 2-4 year olds that opens onto a paved, covered area then the outdoor play area.

All age groups engage in learning activities and purposeful play, guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. The nursery accepts various government funding options, including 15-hour and 30-hour schemes for eligible children, and offers a discounted rate for NHS employees.

Meals are freshly prepared, nutritious, and balanced, forming part of an affordable pricing plan. The nursery strongly believes in learning through play, viewing it as a primary method for children to develop self-worth and concentration skills.

Our ethos

Play is one of the main ways in which children learn. It helps to build self worth by giving a child a sense of his or her own abilities and to feel good about themselves. Because it’s fun, children often become very absorbed in what they are doing. In turn, this helps them develop the ability to concentrate.
