Yeovil College Nursery offers a nurturing and stimulating environment focused on the holistic development of children. " There is a strong emphasis on outdoor activities and exploring the natural world.

The nursery prides itself on fostering confidence, emotional literacy, self-discipline, perseverance, resilience, and independence in children, preparing them for their future educational journeys. They are committed to providing high-quality care that respects individual differences and cultural backgrounds, actively involving parents and the local community.

The staff are highly trained, particularly in supporting early communication, having achieved Elklan "Communication Friendly Setting" status. The nursery aims to equip children with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for success in society, ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum that caters to all children, including those with special educational needs and those receiving Early Years Pupil Premium, ultimately aiming for all children to make good progress in their learning and development.

Our ethos

At Yeovil College Nursery, the wellbeing of all our children is paramount, and we aim to create welcoming, fun, and inspiring environments for all children and their families. Children, parents, staff and governors work supportively together in order to improve outcomes for the children. We also regularly consult specific outside agencies to help support children’s individual needs. Children and their families’ individual differences, social and cultural backgrounds are valued and celebrated. We welcome parents, children and our local community to share and partake in the life of the nursery. Our curriculum is ambitious, exciting and inclusive. It includes principles such as ‘In the Moment Planning’, ‘The Curiosity Approach’ and ‘Loose Parts Play’, with a high focus on outdoor play and exploring the natural world. It is consistent and carefully scaffolded from babies through to preschool. We support children to develop into independent and confident individuals, with an eagerness to learn new skills and tackle new challenges. As a result, all children will be able to contribute to a generation who will acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding to be able to succeed in society today and in their future life.

What it's like

Children are extremely happy and confident in the nursery. The impact of the curriculum is highly effective, enabling children to become exceptionally successful independent learners. Children have outstanding opportunities to learn outdoors, developing a wide range of skills.

Pricing & funding

Charges are based on daily rates divided by age bands (under 2 years and 2-4 years) or half-day sessions for older children. Funded children can access morning or afternoon sessions, with additional hours and consumables charges applying where relevant. One-off administration and retainer fees are required upon registration.
