I feel I need to defend this Nursery as it’s been deemed to be “run by children” To clarify; it’s not! The ladies in the office have been there for years with prior experience working with the children in the nursery as they looked after my first 8 years ago before climbing the ranks. Now my second child attends here and they have more than enough experience, including older ladies who you don’t actually see! In comparison to a state nursery; it’s modern, no run down equipment, staff:child ratio is safer, structured, sensory room, great communication with parents, they have their observations that are required for your child’s development. As always, emails get lost, if you don’t hear from them after a couple of days, drop them another message to get that written confirmation you require. My child has development delays and it was quickly dealt with; my child is now on track with thanks to great communication from the staff and prior knowledge to child development with target sheets they have to fill out. I’m going to mention child:staff ratio. State school is 1 member of staff to 10 children. At that age and monitoring the child is not safe. Here at ABC, it’s 6:1. Door handles higher to prevent children from going walkabouts (state nurseries standard handles half way down the door), you get regular updates on their progress, food/drink intake, sleep through a parent portal app. They also have a sensory room, which was something they didn’t have 8 years ago; my child loves it and it’s very helpful to children these days. To get into the building is safer in relation to safeguarding, no parent is allowed passed the reception unless invited in and collections are done by following safeguarding procedures. The rules set are for your child’s safety. Bonus is, the nursery runs throughout the entire year so for those who only have limited holiday days, your childcare is there so one less thing to stress about. Granted my grumble is having to pay for the day your child doesn’t go in if you are on hol or child is ill, but at least you don’t have to find (and pay for additional) childcare for the remaining weeks of the year you have to work while the kids are off 13-weeks a year.

I paid to reserve my daughters place in this nursery for Tuesdays and Wednesdays when she was 6 weeks old for her to start 9 months later when I returned to work. Today I’ve found out 6 weeks before I return to work that they will not honour these days. What an absolute disgrace, I’ve planned my whole return to work around this. Seriously not good at all. I wouldn’t trust them and if you do I’d be asking for whatever you agree in writing.
