Abington Annexe Community Childcare, established in 2023, provides childcare for children aged 2 to 11 years. Located at Great Abington Primary School in Cambridge, the setting operates Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 08:30 to 15:00.

The dedicated team, which has recently seen significant changes in its senior management, is committed to providing a high-quality learning environment and proactively identifies and addresses the needs of all children, including those who are disadvantaged or have special educational needs and/or disabilities. Leaders ensure regular professional development for staff, empowering them to offer tailored support.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Leaders are attentive to ensuring that all children feel included. For children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, staff collaborate closely with families and the special educational needs coordinator to provide extra support for activities. Staff also receive training to meet children's health requirements.

Outdoor space

Children benefit from regular time outdoors, and staff encourage the development of physical skills through active play such as running, climbing and balancing. Children are also supported in developing independence by putting on their own coats for outdoor play.

EAL / language support

Staff support all children with communication aids, such as visual cards, and introduce vocabulary through engaging activities, story times and rhymes, including discussions about feelings and emotions using emotion cards.

This is a great resource for the local community. Our son is at Abington primary school and always looks forward to his after school sessions at Abington Annexe. The staff are great!

Both of my children have attended preschool in Abington. They have had a wonderful time. The staff are excellent and have a range of great activities. They feel safe, they learn and they have fun. Definitely recommend.

Both my children have attended this pre school. The setting is idyllic and the staff are very experienced and know the children very well. They do a range of activities, including sport and music from an outside provider. My son is always excited to go in the morning. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
