About this day nursery

Appleton Roebuck Preschool, established in 1977, is a charitable organisation deeply integrated into the village community. The preschool prioritises a child-centred approach, recognising the unique development pace of each child.

Through nurturing relationships and an engaging environment, children are encouraged to learn and flourish. The dedicated team, with high staff-to-child ratios, focuses on understanding individual interests to create child-led learning experiences.

A newly designed curriculum, structured around the four seasons, prepares children for primary school by covering the seven areas of learning outlined in the Statutory Framework for Early Years. The curriculum emphasises literacy through a "Super Six" book programme, incorporating high-quality texts, rhyming stories, traditional tales, and books promoting well-being and diversity.

The preschool offers a stimulating indoor space with areas for messy play, music, reading, role-play, and mathematics, complemented by a spacious and secure outdoor area. Children are encouraged to spend time outdoors daily and explore the local village and woods.

Beyond the structured curriculum, the preschool provides diverse learning opportunities, including guest sessions, termly day trips, and community visits from professionals like farmers, police officers, and medical staff to broaden children's understanding of the world. As a charity, the preschool strives to keep fees as low as possible, covering essential operational costs.
