Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Wellingborough, which received a "Good" rating from Ofsted in September 2025, provides a nurturing and engaging environment for children aged 0 to 4 years. The nursery focuses on promoting children's sense of belonging and well-being, with staff greeting them warmly and fostering positive relationships.
The curriculum is implemented effectively, building on children's existing knowledge. Staff demonstrate a strong understanding of each child, adapting their interactions to support individual learning during play and introducing new vocabulary to extend language skills.
Children are actively involved in stimulating activities that encourage imagination and independent exploration, such as using play dough to create imaginary ice cream and moving resources to enhance their games. The nursery has made significant improvements in safeguarding procedures since its previous inspection, with thorough staff checks and regular, extensive training to ensure a robust safeguarding culture.
Leaders provide strong support to staff, including role modelling and reflective discussions, which enhances teaching practices and ensures funding is used effectively to promote children's progress. Staff skillfully extend children's interests and develop their communication, for example, by providing creative activities following outdoor explorations.
Children are also supported in developing independence, being given time to complete tasks such as dressing and serving meals, and staff act as positive role models to help children manage their feelings. The nursery works in close partnership with parents, keeping them informed about their children's progress and involving them in identifying next steps in learning.

Following outdoor play when children were fascinated by a worm, staff provide clay and pictures of worms, bees, birds nests and pumpkins for them to inspire their model making. This results in lively conversations and supports their learning well.
My daughter attends Ashbourne Day Nursery, and I couldn’t be happier with the care she receives. Since starting nursery, I have seen such wonderful growth and development in her, which truly shows the dedication of the staff. One of the best things about this nursery is the team. All the staff are incredibly friendly, kind, and welcoming. They always greet us with warm smiles, and my daughter absolutely loves them. She is always excited and happy to go to nursery, which gives me so much reassurance as a parent. The communication is excellent. Every day at pick-up, they update me on everything — even the smallest changes they notice. This makes me feel confident that she is in safe and caring hands. I also really appreciate the regular photo updates on the app. Seeing her happy and engaged in activities throughout the day brings me so much joy. There are so many creative and educational activities that keep the children engaged and learning in a fun way. I am truly grateful for the love and care they provide. I highly recommend this nursery to any parent looking for a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for their child.
Read on GoogleI honestly cannot praise this nursery enough. The team are absolutely brilliant and go above and beyond every single day. They always keep me fully up to date with everything – from daily activities to progress and little milestones – which gives me so much reassurance as a parent. Any time I’ve needed support, advice or just a chat about anything, they have been amazing. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they genuinely care. The love, attention and quality of care they give to my child is exceptional. You can clearly see how passionate they are about what they do, and it shows in how happy and settled my child is. I absolutely love this nursery and would 110% recommend it to everyone. We feel so lucky to be part of it!
