About this day nursery

Little Stones Pre-School and Out of School Clubs, registered with Ofsted in 2001, provides childcare for children aged 2 to 4 years in Wellingborough. The setting is inclusive, welcoming all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and children generally settle happily into the friendly environment.

The setting is open year-round from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM on weekdays, with varying session times to accommodate different needs. Children are encouraged to develop their independence through routines and enjoy engaging in outdoor play, where they can develop their large motor skills.

Staff build positive relationships with children and families, and leaders actively work with parents and external agencies to support children with SEND. While there are some inconsistencies in the implementation of support for children with SEND and the curriculum delivery, the setting offers a range of activities, both indoors and outdoors, to foster physical skills and communication.

Leaders are aware of areas for improvement and are taking steps to address them, including enhancing staff training and ensuring a broad and challenging curriculum for every child.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), achieve some progress from their starting points, but are not making the progress they could because of weaknesses in the curriculum and teaching. Staff meet individual care needs well for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Although staff identify appropriate support plans for these children and others, they are not implemented effectively. Outdoor space

Children develop large motor skills as they run and climb in the garden. Children demonstrate secure physical development as they play outside, climbing steps up the slide, riding small wheeled toys, and exploring leaves and mud as they hunt for bugs. Staff also offer a range of activities outside.

I'm not a customer, but I've been sat in the car park opposite waiting for my daughter to finish at the dance school and I can see the man liking after the kids in the play area and to see an adult really put effort in to make sure the kids are having fun, running around and playing games, was great to see. Good on that man.
