Apricot Day Nursery, located in St Neots, offers a nurturing environment for children, focusing on their cognitive, social, and physical development. The nursery follows the Montessori approach, providing a home-from-home setting where children learn through play.
They offer a diverse range of activities and learning opportunities tailored to individual interests. The nursery operates across two sites, with a separate pre-school setting a short walk away for when children are ready to transition.
Apricot Day Nursery also has a "Next Stop School" programme to prepare children for primary school. The setting emphasises outdoor learning, with each of its three rooms having access to a safe, age-appropriate outdoor play area.
The curriculum is based on the Brighter Learning Approach, which enhances the Early Years Foundation Stage framework through hands-on experiences and child-led learning across six core areas: My Happy and Healthy Self, Wonderful World, Super STEAM, Raving Readers, Mini Maths, and Confident Speakers and Communicators. The nursery encourages parent communication, prioritises safety, provides freshly prepared meals, and assigns a key person to each child to ensure individual needs are met.
Our ethos
At Apricot Day Nursery, we know that nursery education has many benefits. Evidence shows that it contributes to cognitive, social, and physical development, boosts confidence and independence, and supports children’s preparation for school. Our smaller size enables us to work closely with children and families to form a partnership which allows us to meet their individual needs and develop capable learners and communicators. We value play-based learning and offer a varied curriculum to spark curiosity and develop skills.

Inclusion & environment
The special educational needs coordinator is new to the role and is extremely proactive. She has quickly made links with other professionals and accessed additional funding. She works closely with children's key persons to provide tailored plans that meet their individual needs, ensuring children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported.
Outside, older children arrange planks of wood to build an assault course, and staff encourage them to hold their arms wide as they balance along the beams. The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact on children's learning.
Children who speak English as an additional language are well supported. Staff ask parents for keywords and use visual prompts, speaking clearly and using simple signing to support all children's communication and language. Books and songs are well used and enjoyed by children every day.
We are incredibly happy with our experience at Wellingborough Day Nursery and the wonderful progress our daughter, Iris, has made. The biggest difference we’ve noticed is in her social confidence and willingness to engage with everyone. Drop-offs and pickups, which used to involve tears, are now completely stress-free, she genuinely loves being here. She runs in happily every morning and is always in a joyful mood when we arrive to collect her. This transformation is a direct result of the nurturing, positive, and supportive environment created by the staff. We highly recommend the nursery to any parent looking for exceptional care and developmental support. A big thank you to the team!!!
Read on GoogleBest nursery around. Amazing women that are very helpful and friendly. Was really worried about sending him (being my first child) but my son loves it there. So glad I sent him. Every morning his face lights up when I tell him where we are going. I get regular updates which I love. He's developing so much quicker being there. Will definitely be sad when he leaves ( thankfully a few more years yet)
Read on GoogleFantastic Day Nursery when my grandson first started he was upset and they was so caring and allowed us to have more stay and play sessions until he was settled. He now loves going to Nursery and we have updates via the app throughout the morning. Would definitely recommend A+
Read on GoogleWhen our daughter was little, she came home with an injury on her back near the spine, but the nursery didn't inform us on what happened. Our daughter wasn't speaking well then, but she communicated to us that another boy pushed her to a table causing the injury. Because it was another little kid, we obviously didn't complain or escalate. Only a week or two after, a staff member gave me a form to acknowledge that they informed us about the injury/incident (asking for my signature). She said they had unfortunately forgotten to inform us about the incident in time by mistake. It felt as if they were concealing it for a few days/weeks until they get confirmed that there's no serious injury before acknowledging this happened at the nursery (to avoid accountability if there was a serious injury). For a moment, I thought I must refuse to sign it. But I signed it anyway, avoiding my wife noticing that the nursery staff approached like this to hide dust under the carpet. If she was present on that day this would have escalated to a whole different level. (Based on our origins, ethnic/cultural background, we are naturally good people-readers. Therefore, it doesn't take seconds to understand people's intent when they act. And that's part of my job too. The staff member who approached me for this acted in extreme discomfort as if she was sent by someone else to the frontline to balance the situation). However, I thought of sharing this experience so that other parents could be a bit vigilant if their child is attending this nursery. Our son goes to a different nursery near the Jackson lane car park and having seen how much good care and attention they provide, I was shocked remembering this experience with the Wellingborough Day nursery.
Read on GoogleStaff doesn’t care about children at all, employing people who have no compassion or common sense is always a great idea for a nursery lol. My 3 year old was not happy every time I told her we’re going to nursery, she was crying that she has to go there, speaks for itself doesn’t it, she never had a problem when she was going a different nursery before. Staff is audacious and unbothered when you bring up their mistakes and rudeness. Oh and also they tried to overcharge me TWICE, even though I had the government funded hours. Do yourself and your baby a favour and avoid this place.
