About this day nursery

Ashbourne Day Nursery Sandbach, a childcare setting on non-domestic premises located in Sandbach, CW11 3LZ, was registered with Ofsted on 22/03/2024. The day nursery cares for children aged 0 to 4 years and has a capacity for 70 children.

While the nursery demonstrates that safeguarding standards are met, with leaders and staff fulfilling their responsibilities and establishing an open safeguarding culture, there are several areas requiring improvement. The report highlights that children do not consistently make sustained progress from their starting points, and the curriculum is not yet fully embedded or consistently implemented, particularly in mathematics and early communication skills.

Staff are noted to not always support children effectively in settling or developing social skills, and routines sometimes fail to meet children's needs, such as during mealtimes. However, the nursery does support children in developing independence, health knowledge, and physical skills through a well-resourced outdoor area.

Leaders also ensure appropriate use of additional funding to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and work positively with families through daily communications and parents' evenings.

What it's like

Children receive a warm greeting from familiar staff and older children are eager to join in play with their friends. However, some staff do not sufficiently support young children to settle effectively, nor encourage them to join in with group activities or engage in play with their peers. Consequently, children's daily experiences and opportunities for learning are variable.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Leaders use additional funding appropriately to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. However, leaders do not consistently provide support to all children who may face barriers to learning, including those with SEND, or use gathered information to make adaptations to daily routines, meaning children's personal and emotional wellbeing are not sufficiently supported.

Outdoor space

Children benefit from access to a large and well-resourced outdoor space, where they discover the importance of physical exercise and enjoy developing their physical skills.

My Son and Daughter go here. The outdoor gardens are spacious and give the children an opportunity to explore and learn holistically. The staff always ensure meaningful activities are set out for the children during the day. My Son has enjoyed his bug hunts in the garden and my daughters language has come along so well. The staff truly have a passion for thier jobs and you can tell when dropping them off and picking them up because they are always happy to see the children and parent. I always look forward to hearing about the adventures my little beans get up to during the day. I hear the meals are 'better than mommies' so, Thank you to the Team. We appreciate it.

The nursery is a truly incredible place to attend, to which my niece attends here and loves coming into nursery now and doesn’t even wave goodbye. The outside areas are beautiful and each rooms have their own space to explore and wonder around, the rooms are full of great space and have some interesting ideas for activities. Staff are all very friendly and welcoming.

My daughter started Ashbourne in July and has flourished. Eden comes home happy and tired which shows the level of activity she's had all through the day. I am very happy with the nursery in general and the staff are excellent.

I love the updates though the app, especially the observations as it lets me see what my child has been doing throughout the way.
