St. Bede's Childcare, established in 2003, is a charitable organisation operating six childcare settings across Leigh, Wigan, and Bolton. The company prides itself on delivering nurturing, enthusiastic, and exceptional childcare services, underpinned by the collective knowledge of its multi-academy trust and a skilled senior management team with extensive early years expertise.

The organisation's foundational ethos is rooted in the belief that all children deserve the optimal start in life, a principle championed by its former CEO, Mr. Jack Hatch, an OBE recipient for his contributions to education. St. Bede's Childcare is dedicated to preparing children for their future educational journeys by supporting their transitions through various developmental stages, ensuring they are well-prepared for school.

The approach emphasises individualised learning, where activities are meticulously designed to be engaging and enjoyable, facilitating early learning by aligning with each child's unique interests, an approach inspired by the children themselves. Parents are considered primary educators and are actively involved through regular communication with a dedicated key person, who provides updates on their child's progress and guidance for at-home learning.

The nursery aims to cultivate a lifelong love for learning, fostering curious and imaginative young minds through its team of passionate and knowledgeable practitioners who create enriching daily experiences.

Our ethos

As a charity, our aim is to ensure that all children are ready for each transition in their life whether that be to a new room in the nursery or to begin their journey to school. Our approach of individualised learning ensures that we can do this in a way which is age and developmentally appropriate for that child. Each child is viewed as an individual and the learning intentions are planned purposefully around your child’s interests. Parents are recognised as the child’s first educators and they will always be the first point of contact with the child’s key person. Your child’s key person will be responsible for updating you on a regular basis of your child’s progress and how you can support their learning at home. We hope to instil and inspire a love of learning at a young age. Our teams of knowledgeable and passionate practitioners inspire our children with magical learning experiences every single day, with the aim of creating the curious thinkers and scientists of the future! We take lots of inspiration from our children too! Just like with adults, every child is completely unique with their own interests, questions and sense of wonder about the big wide world in which we live. Every day, this inspires us to come up with new and exciting ways to teach them everything they need to know before it’s time to go to school.

What it's like

Children arrive confidently and are ready to learn, engaging with environments planned to promote learning through play. Babies and toddlers explore with intrigue, inspired by stimulating items that respond to their interests. Older children show excitement, their faces beaming in anticipation of activities they enjoy, indicating a developing love of learning at the setting.
