Inclusion & environment
Staff quickly identify children with emerging needs through careful observation. They work closely with parents and other professionals to address any possible delays, implementing targeted plans so every child makes excellent progress. Each child's unique character and experiences are used to strengthen areas that they need to develop further.
Outside, children enjoy obstacle courses, where they balance, hop and jump. Children also practise 'sky writing' using big arm movements to strengthen their larger muscles and prepare for writing.
Children who speak English as an additional language receive exceptional support. Staff use key words from home languages, familiar expressions and gestures to build their confidence and help them feel understood. They give children the time and space to process information, using simple English phrases alongside visual aids. This thoughtful approach allows children to gradually develop their ability to use both languages successfully, both in their play and to express their needs.
As first-time parents, the nursery search felt pretty intimidating. Would we make the right choice? Would our son fit in? Would he actually enjoy it? After visiting several local nurseries, Seymour House stood out head and shoulders above the rest. Esther took the time to show us around, explaining each room and how the children progress through their early learning. We were especially impressed by the rotating food menu—nutritious, varied, and genuinely fun. Before our son started full-time, we were invited to several settling-in sessions where we could stay onsite and watch the activities firsthand. It was a brilliant way to ease him into his new routine gradually. When the full-time days arrived, he was naturally a little unsure about us leaving—but Rosie, Katie and Sam quickly built a warm, trusting relationship with him. He now settles in almost instantly. The daily snapshots are a fantastic reassurance for worried parents and a lovely insight into what he gets up to each day. Full credit to Esther, Danielle and the entire Seymour House team. Their dedication shines through, and we couldn’t be happier with the choice we made.
