Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are swiftly identified. Staff make and implement plans to help close gaps in children's learning and use additional funding effectively to help children make good progress, including buying resources that promote engagement in play and learning. Staff have also recently attended training to develop their use of sign language with children to help those not confident to use spoken words to communicate their needs.

Outdoor space

Children enjoy running and climbing freely outdoors in the garden and forest areas. Staff encourage older children to consider if they feel safe when climbing and balancing along beams, and support younger children to join in active play. Children particularly enjoy the outdoor swing, taking turns as they play, and staff support and encourage physical development well, with children freely moving indoors and outdoors during long periods of uninterrupted play.

Our son has been attending Birdham Preschool for just over a year and is absolutely thriving in this setting. The staff are incredibly kind, help and really focus on nurturing each child and catering for their individual needs. It’s such a beautiful place for children to learn and play and our little boy has made so many friends during his time here. I highly recommend.

Intimate nursery, great staff-child ratio, wonderful and welcoming facility. Concept of nurture through nature is great as kids learn through being outdoors and in their forest hub. Incredibly dedicated staff that really cares about the children and teach them so many things in a playful way. Highly recommend this place to send your little ones to!
