Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
Parents are positive about the nursery and the staff. They state that they are well informed about their child's day and progress in learning.
Parents appreciate the different ways in which staff share information with them.
They acknowledge the changes made to nursery routines to help keep children and staff safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Inclusion & environment
Leaders regularly review children's progress with staff. This helps to ensure that any emerging gaps in children's learning are quickly addressed, and targeted support is put in place.
Babies have plenty of space and time to explore and develop their physical skills. Older children help to check the outdoor space to ensure that it is safe for their friends.
My younger son attended this nursery for over 4 years, from the tender age of 5 months old until it was time for him to leave for big school. He loved it, and has grown up into a thoughtful, empathetic and confident little boy. I'm so grateful to Tamara and the team for keeping him so safe, happy and nurtured. The pre-school room is especially good. They did a wonderful job preparing the children for primary school. Of all the university nurseries, this is the one that deserves an Ofsted Outstanding rating.
Read on GoogleWe have joined a waiting list (for community members not related to Cambridge university) in early 2020 for my child’s expected start date in mid-2021. Always the same answer ever since: no new places for community children. We stayed on the list and later added our second child as well. The process of managing that list is very opaque with comments provided in advance of how big the list is and how we should not be counting of getting a place. After we once were removed from the list by mistake, then also discovered that due to my husband employer we should be on the top of it but we were not for years, finally last summer I raised a complaint to Bright Horizons group and it was investigated with conclusion that nothing was wrong. However, just some days after that suddenly there were spaces offered for both of my kids (despite the fact that we have already received a notification that there will be no new spaces until the end of 2023). After visiting the nursery and meeting with the manager we did not have a good feeling about this nursery(compared to the one where our kids go since the age of 1). It’s a beautiful building/facilities but the garden is very limited in terms of climbing equipment and other playground type of things that active kids really can benefit from. Manager made a very ‘marketing’ like presentation that lacked authenticity and we left with a feeling that something was fake about it. Together with how the waiting list was managed we decided not to take up the offered places and kept our children at another nursery. I don’t want to say that I think this nursery is bad but I do think that it’s all corporate while at this age kids need a family-like support. There are better places in Cambridge.
Read on GoogleOur daughter has been here for the last 2 years, since she was 9 months old. She has had a few different key workers as she progressed through the rooms and has always spoken positively and frequently about each of them, and is always eager to go. From the managerial staff to the practitioners, they seem to be a kind and genuinely caring nursery. They provide a wealth of information about the activities the kids are doing, continual detailed and meaningful progress reports, and at home activities you as a parent can do to assist your child's development. We have seen them handle covid, and the response to a fire alarm effectively. This is the only nursery our child has been to, and whilst we don't have anything to compare against, we don't think there's anything lacking at all. Edit: Having relocated and been to other nurseries over several years, I’d say this is as good as it gets
Read on GoogleMy child had really good time here, and teachers are very supportive. It opens 10 hours a day from 8am- 6pm and even bank holidays, my child made a lot of friends and absolutely love her teachers.
