Under Fives Roundabout is a charitable, not-for-profit community preschool established in 1980, originally in the Round Church Hall before moving to its own premises in September 2008. The preschool is dedicated to providing a stimulating, enjoyable, and educational environment where children can flourish, build confidence, and prepare for primary school.
The organisation is governed by a committee of local parents, placing children and the community at the core of its mission. In addition to the preschool, Under Fives Roundabout operates a toddler group for children under five and their caregivers, offering an engaging space for little ones to learn and grow, alongside fostering a supportive network for parents.
Parents commend the staff's exceptional care, the positive impact on children's social skills, and the outstanding leadership. The preschool offers a wide range of activities, a well-utilised outdoor area for learning, and celebrates various cultures.
Ofsted also notes the excellent promotion of children's independence through a free-flow play environment, encouraging exploration both indoors and outdoors.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are very well supported. The special educational needs coordinator is knowledgeable in her role. She works in partnership with parents and outside agencies to agree specific strategies to support children's progress. Staff place a high priority on providing an inclusive environment so that children feel part of the pre-school community.
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors. She assessed the impact this has on children's learning.
Both my children attended Roundabout and loved their time there. The staff are warm, friendly and nurturing and the range of activities both in and outdoors gave my children a rich experience that allowed them to both explore their own interests and try new things. I am so happy we chose Roundabout to provide outstanding care for our children and also prepare them for starting school. I can't recommend it enough!
Read on GoogleRoundabout is as good as it gets. We’ve tried various different nursery / daycare options and the staff at Roundabout are the most experienced we’ve come across. They go above and beyond to understand each child. I was impressed how quickly they ‘got’ my daughter and gave her gentle, patient support. We have loved the atmosphere of a home away from home, Roundabout is many things (safe, affordable, community-focused) but above all it’s a wonderful environment for little ones.
Read on GoogleBoth of my children attended Roundabout preschool. It is such a special place, with experienced, caring and exceptional staff. The indoor and outdoor areas are well-equipped and they have found the perfect balance of playful learning. I cannot recommend Roundabout enough and it will always have a very special place in our family.
Read on GoogleI cannot recommend Roundabout (preschool and playgroup) enough. When we moved here I visited few preschools in the nearby, to find a good place for my daughters. As a former nursery teacher I knew that I would not probably find the perfect place for them since I am well aware that I can be quite demanding. Roundabout earned quickly the love of our family and I cannot recommend it enough. It is not just a place for children to flourish, it is also a blessing for the beautiful community that grows around it.
Read on GoogleWe absolutely love it here. My son is extremely sensitive, especially in unfamiliar environments. I didn't expect him to enjoy going to preschool at all but Roundabout is such a special place and he loved it right from the beginning. I don't think he would've been happy anywhere else! The staff all get to know every child and treat them as individuals. There is always a lovely, warm atmosphere and the children all seem so happy.
