About this day nursery

Girton Village Day Nursery welcomes children and families, operating for 51 weeks a year. They accommodate both 15 and 30 hours of government funding, distributed throughout the year, with a minimum booking requirement of two short days per week.

The nursery also provides up to three fully funded places for children eligible for two-year-old funding, deprivation funding, and/or Early Years Pupil Premium, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. A food fee is applicable for children over three years old, and packed lunches are not permitted due to allergies.

However, parents have the option to take their child home for lunch between 12:00 and 1:00 PM, which will not be charged. A deposit of £50 secures a place, refunded on the first invoice or if more than two months' notice of cancellation is given.

No deposit is required for children receiving two-year-old funding, deprivation funding, or Early Years Pupil Premium. The nursery is experienced in supporting children with additional needs and medical conditions, including allergies, and works with parents and professionals to plan support.

They maintain a waiting list when groups are at capacity, prioritising siblings and existing families. Settling sessions are an integral part of the transition process, tailored to each child's interests, and are scheduled during quieter nursery times to facilitate bonding with a key person.

The nursery also supports transitions to preschool and school, collaborating with teachers and facilitating visits to local schools.

We found Girton Village Day Nursery through friends, after realising that the nursery we had originally chosen wasn’t quite right for us. From the moment we joined, Charlotte, the nursery manager, has been brilliant. She is incredibly flexible and supportive, something we truly appreciate, especially as our lives can be quite chaotic at times. Our children started in the baby room, where Angela and Sarah were absolutely amazing. They were the first people our children interacted with after us, and they provided such a warm, caring environment. It was clear they genuinely enjoy their work, not just do it, and that made a real difference. As our children moved into the toddler room, Sonya, Donna and Lisa continued to support their development with the same dedication. Sonya, who is my son’s key person, has been especially wonderful. When he is worried, she is the one who reassures him and helps him feel safe. I couldn’t be happier with Girton Village Day Nursery. I feel confident that my children are safe, loved and well cared for there.
