Bright Horizons First Direct Stourton Day Nursery And Preschool provides care for children from birth to four years old in Leeds. It operates from 7am to 6.15pm, 52 weeks a year, and accepts tax-free childcare arrangements. In its May 2022 inspection, Ofsted rated the nursery as Outstanding overall. The inspector reported that children make excellent progress and are curious and eager to learn, with leaders and staff providing 'magic moments' to inspire them.

According to Ofsted, the highly skilled staff have an exceptional understanding of child development and share valuable information with parents. The report noted that staff promote a love of reading and use the outdoor area to develop children's physical and language skills through activities like riding bicycles and acting out stories. All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, were found to make rapid progress from their starting points.

Our ethos

The Nurture Approach is central to life at our Nurseries. It brings together learning and emotional wellbeing as part of the same amazing growing-up journey. We recognise the importance of the Key Person role in creating a sense of emotional safety for children, providing an environment in which they feel known, safe, and loved. This starts the very first time a child and their parent/carer spend time in the nursery, often during what is referred to as 'settling in' sessions. These first visits and time spent with their Key Person make all the difference, building a triangle of trust between the Key Person, the child, and the parent/carer.

Children make excellent progress. Highly skilled staff have an exceptional understanding of what children know and what they need to know next. Awe and wonder are at the core of the setting, meaning children are curious and eager to learn.
