About this day nursery

Bright Horizons operates over 300 nurseries and preschools across the UK, offering comprehensive childcare solutions with a focus on holistic child development. Their unique 'Nurture Approach' integrates learning with emotional well-being, aiming to foster healthy, happy, and capable children.

The curriculum, named 'Bright Beginnings', emphasises five core learning areas and integrates practical life skills through engaging activities. They prioritise healthy eating with freshly prepared meals and have robust allergy management.

The nursery group is dedicated to outdoor learning, offering Forest School programmes and participating in Eco-Schools initiatives to enhance children's development through nature. They also provide comprehensive support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Understanding the financial challenges of childcare, Bright Horizons guides families through various government funding options, including tax-free childcare and funded hours. They also smooth the transition for new children and their families through dedicated, non-chargeable 'Settling In Sessions' that can commence up to six weeks prior to the start date, allowing children and parents to gradually acclimate to the nursery environment and build strong relationships with their key person.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff ensure that children with special educational needs and/or disabilities can access and benefit from the curriculum. Staff put effective plans in place, that are shared with parents, to improve progress. With support from an experienced special educational needs coordinator and outside agencies, the staff implement a variety of strategies to support the needs of the children. For instance, they plan small one-to-one and group work, for children who may need more attention.

Outdoor space

The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact that this was having on children's learning. Toddlers use play dough to design and make their own spiders like the ones they found in the garden earlier.

My 8 month old son started attending the Nursery in November 2023. He absolutely loves his time there. The staff are super friendly, they take the time to answer questions my wife and i have without hesitation (there were a lot) their patience has been greatly appreciated. We have seen first hand how sweet the team in the baby room have been with our son. We actually chose this nursery because we were recommended it by my cousin who had sent his twin girls there, we would also highly recommend them!

A pretty disappointing experience. We moved our boy here for 2 months as it was closer to our home. The staff do not do many activities with the children. In the morning drop offs they are not friendly and do not greet the parents. Literally walk past you when you are trying to drop off your child. We have moved our son to a different nursery and he is now far happier. Also they were quite hostile in chasing invoices, and last minute changes to make half days into full days to make more money. Parents beware.

Really great staff, and very well run and managed by Dannyella. We've had great experiences across all three rooms (baby, toddler and pre school) for both of our children. Hot food is served daily and the activities are varied and engaging. No complaints!

Couldn't have picked a better nursery to send my child to. My son's development came on leaps and bounds after joining the nursery, all the staff are wonderful and I loved the updates via the app. I would give 6 stars if I could.
