Busy Bee Day Nursery, established in 2018, provides childcare in Bristol for children aged 1 to 4 years. Open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5:30pm all year round, it received a Good rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 23 November 2021.

Children at Busy Bee Day Nursery are described as happy, safe, and settled, forming strong bonds with the caring and nurturing staff. The nursery offers a wide range of well-planned activities based on children's interests, allowing them to confidently make independent choices about their play and resources.

The curriculum is effectively understood by staff, who plan well to support children's learning and development, encouraging problem-solving. Leaders at Busy Bee Day Nursery have high expectations for all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

The dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator works effectively with external agencies to provide support for each child. The nursery places a strong emphasis on outdoor learning; staff have received training to provide opportunities for children to experience outdoor activities in a local forest environment.

The recently restyled garden also offers ample opportunities for imaginative play and physical development, with children enjoying ride-on toys in the outdoor area. Parents speak very positively about the nursery and their children's progress, particularly appreciating the support received during the COVID-19 pandemic through online meetings and telephone calls, and looking forward to face-to-face meetings within the nursery.

Children are also supported in developing increasing independence, such as managing their own outdoor clothing, preparing them for their transition to school.

SEND provision

Leaders have high expectations for all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The special educational needs coordinator is passionate and committed to her role and works well with external agencies to support each child.

Outdoor space

Staff have received training and provide opportunities for children to experience outdoor activities in a local forest environment. They have recently restyled the garden to provide more opportunities for imaginative play, which children make good use of. There are ample opportunities for children's physical development, as they navigate the outdoor area on ride-on toys.
