Little Leaders Kesgrave is a childcare setting located in Ipswich, IP5 1JF, that places a strong emphasis on children's welfare and wellbeing. Registered with Ofsted on 18/02/2025, the day nursery provides a warm, nurturing environment where children, aged 1 to 4, thrive emotionally and develop secure, trusting relationships with their key people and their families.

Staff are highly attentive, swiftly recognising and responding to children's individual care needs, such as hunger or tiredness, ensuring they feel safe and secure. The daily routines are precisely organised to keep children engaged in play and focused on learning, promoting impressive levels of self-regulation and positive social interactions, such as taking turns.

The curriculum is designed to encourage discovery and experimentation, with children exploring natural materials like herbs and tea bags, and developing early mathematical concepts through hands-on activities. Outdoor experiences, including walks in the local area to care for the environment, are particularly beneficial, especially for children who may have limited access to outdoor play at home.

The setting also promotes healthy lifestyles through discussions about exercise and healthy eating. Leaders and staff foster an inclusive practice, adapting the environment and interactions for all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and work closely with parents to ensure smooth transitions and consistent attendance.

Our ethos

We use the Curiosity Approach to help the children use their imagination, curious minds and magical thoughts to develop and grow. We have a calm, tranquil approach to learning through loose parts and natural resources, which helps the children to think creatively and critically. We have child led planning which allows the children to follow their own path and create a magical environment to learn in. We follow ‘The Curiosity Approach’ which helps the children learn in a natural environment with resources that inspire curiosity, awe and wonder. We have Forest school and Beach school sessions which allow the children to learn outdoors and have lots of fun!

What it's like

Children are greeted by familiar staff who make sure each child has a calm and friendly welcome. They settle well because staff take time to understand what helps each child feel secure and included. Through self-chosen play, children learn new skills that generally prepare them well for the next stage in their learning. Children use tools, such as 'worry monsters' and emotion cards, to help them express their feelings, and their sense of belonging in the local community develops particularly well as they go on regular outings.
