Cisco Early Years Nursery and Preschool, registered with Ofsted in 2014, welcomes children aged 1 to 4 years. Open all year round from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, except for one week at Christmas and on bank holidays, it provides a warm and welcoming environment where children quickly settle and feel happy.
The nursery prides itself on children forming close and trusting relationships with staff who know them well, fostering a sense of safety and security. Children are noted for being confident and independent learners, with exceptional behaviour and positive attitudes towards learning.
Staff act as extremely positive role models, maintaining high expectations for children's behaviour and consistently implementing effective behaviour management strategies. The curriculum is developed based on children's interests and learning needs, with staff skilled at extending learning experiences, such as creating an aquarium in the nursery after children showed an interest in sea life.
The nursery places a strong focus on communication and language development, regularly introducing new words and encouraging children to join in with stories, songs, and discussions. To further support a love of reading, children are highly motivated by a varied selection of books and benefit from a book-lending scheme to share stories at home.
While staff provide some activities to support gross-motor skills, the nursery is working on offering more challenging, vigorous, and risky play opportunities, both indoors and outdoors, to further enhance physical development. Leaders effectively evaluate the provision and support staff through ongoing professional development, which parents praise, alongside the loving and caring staff and the highly effective learning experiences offered.
Parents also report that their children are well prepared for their next stages of learning, including transitioning to school.
