Clifton Street Preschool, located on the edge of Old Town, Swindon, is a vibrant and stimulating learning environment established over 25 years ago. This charity-led organisation focuses on nurturing children aged 3-4 years old during term-time, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
The preschool prides itself on its child-centred, play-based curriculum, which is inspired by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory guidance. The dedicated team, comprising highly qualified and experienced practitioners, endeavours to ignite children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, believing that a happy, safe, and valued child learns best.
They work closely with parents, whom they consider "experts" on their children, to ensure each child reaches their full potential. The preschool’s unique location next to Radnor Street Cemetery and Nature Reserve offers exceptional outdoor learning opportunities, allowing children to engage directly with nature and observe seasonal changes and local wildlife.
This enriching setting supports their philosophy of inspiring, playing, and learning.

Inclusion & environment
This inclusive approach ensures that all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), are valued and fully involved in the life of the setting. The curriculum is ambitious, well sequenced and carefully tailored to meet children's individual needs and interests, particularly supporting disadvantaged children and those with SEND.
In the garden, children confidently explore open-ended resources, such as pipettes, syringes and spoons, to create 'potions' in containers of different shapes and sizes. They persevere as they transfer and mix materials, showing curiosity and problem-solving skills.
