Colourbox Montessori, established in 1992 by Susie Norman, offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children, embracing both the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and the Montessori approach. With multiple nurseries across Suffolk, Colourbox focuses on fostering independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love for learning.
Highly experienced staff support children's development by listening to their ideas, following their interests, valuing their uniqueness, and respecting their choices. The nurseries provide a calm and consistent atmosphere where children can create, play, and make friends, encouraging growth in confidence and fostering competent learners.
Colourbox Montessori aims to excite children about learning and life through hands-on experiences and child-led exploration, ensuring personalised care and education for each child's unique potential.
Our ethos
Play is the Work of the Child. Maria Montessori recognised that young children need a sense of order and regularity in their lives. At Colourbox we provide a calm and consistent atmosphere where your child can create, play, make friends and develop as an individual as well as part of a group. Our Montessori guides use thoughtful language to encourage your child to grow in confidence and to become a competent learner.

Best nursery we have ever had! And we liked our other ones too so even more of a compliment! Supportive for our 4th child on his SEN journey. Understanding, helpful and years of experience.
Read on GooglePhenomenal staff in a newly renovated facility that the children love! The team make you and your little ones feel so at ease from day one and it can’t be recommended higher.
Read on GoogleMy preschooler daughter has been with Colourbox Cherry Trees for the last 9 months. She is excited to go on her scheduled days and looks forward to seeing her friends and teachers there. Our experience as a family has been very positive and enjoyable. We have felt supported, individually as well as a family. There have been many opportunities to observe and be part of my child’s experience there such as through Mother’s Day, science week, cultural holidays and the cherished birthday walk. I would definitely recommend. When my daughter first started she was very quiet, unsure, and lacking confidence in being somewhere without me. She would frequently get upset during drop off. Her key worker was fantastic at building a secure attachment with her through constantly being there at pick up and drop off, and working on activities with her that matched her interest, before slowly building in other teachers and peers at a pace that she felt secure and comfortable with. Providing routines at drop off and pick up, right from the beginning with a child focussed degree of flexibility, has enabled her to build independence and confidence, as well as her providing a link to her home life, which she missed - ‘mummy I will/have made this for you today’. This has been invaluable to helping her settle in and develop a sense of place. This approach has also developed her enjoyment in arts and crafts and fostered a sense of pride in her achievements. I have found that the Montessori approach has provided her a with breadth of real world skills, significant exposure to complex concepts in things such as science, space, and nature. As well as fostering an understanding of different cultures and perspectives. All delivered in a fun, captivating, and age-appropriate way. The setting environment promotes confidence, independence, respect for themselves and others, curiosity of the world and people, and a great sense of pride whether that be in sweeping up peas, polishing glasses, counting conkers, building a tower, sharing their recent holiday or a favourite toy/book, or reading/writing their own names!
Read on GoogleAbsolutely fantastic nursery! Staff are so kind and approachable, communication is great and my daughter has come along leaps and bounds since she started here. I cannot fault this place or the staff, and my daughter thoroughly enjoys every day that she is there. There is so much for her to do and learn each day.
