Inclusion & environment
The special educational needs and disabilities coordinator (SENDCo) works sensitively with parents. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive tailored, individual programmes of support to reach their targets. Therefore, all children make the best possible progress from their starting points.
Outside, children are confident to take risks as they play. They show incredible bravery and self-belief. For example, toddlers demonstrate advanced physical agility as they copy skateboard skills modelled by the adults. Babies actively climb in and out of tyres. Babies cruise along, taking bold strides across wooden planks and boxes while supported by adults.
Our daughter has been at Colville since she was 8 months old, and now for 2 years. Choosing this nursery was one of the best decisions we ever made! She has adored every stage, from baby to toddler to preschool room, and has forged friendships for life. The staff are wonderfully caring, fun and engaged, and our daughter is genuinely excited to go to nursery every day. One thing that made me choose Colville specifically is how integrated it is with the local community, with regular trips out to the local shops, market, etc. I cannot recommend this nursery enough, for the fun, but also the learning, warmth of the teachers, and the fab food the Chef cooks them daily!
Read on GoogleOur little one has been with Colville since she was 15mths old and from the baby room to the current pre school stage, the experience has been faultless. The team are utterly caring and dedicated to nurturing strong relationships with us parents. They're super supportive when approached for guidance and advice, they are hands on with so many of the significant milestones including potty training and they work closely with parents to help navigate phasing in and out of stages like napping, providing guidance on effective approaches based on how well they get to know our child. The events held throughout the year are super inclusive and really help children and parents connect with each other. We've forged positive relationships with other parents facilitated by this social aspect, which isn't something many other nurseries commit to regularly delivering. The educational aspect is IMO superior and children learn quickly to recognise letters and sounds and begin to understand science and numbers. My little one can spell and (almost legibly) write her first name. Children are well behaved and very friendly and independence is encouraged and learnt quickly early on which is fantastic. Nutrition is a priority, with on site chef cooked meals, which is so important. Both leadership and the wider team are extremely approachable and present and inclusive and beyond dedicated. I've spoken to many parents whose children attend other nurseries and their experience is frequently negative or mixed. My experience at Colville has been entirely positive, we adore the team and are so grateful for their care, support and are so cognisant of the significant role they play in our little one's life. They are superb, and very very valued. Thank you team!
