About this day nursery

Community Action Project has been operating since 2004 and provides full day care from a community centre in Smethwick, catering for children aged 2 to 8 years. 30am to 4pm, the nursery operates a holiday club during school breaks.

The setting received a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 10th April 2025. Leaders and staff have worked to create a learning environment that successfully engages children and reflects various learning areas.

Children are confident in their play and exploration, particularly outdoors, where they learn to share and take turns. Health and hygiene are prioritised, with good routines that include teaching children about minimising germ spread and daily oral care.

The enthusiastic team focuses on communication and language development, using strategies that help bilingual children develop both their languages and providing strong language models. Recent staff training has enhanced understanding of how to support children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

Leaders and staff actively involve external agencies, including health professionals, to provide comprehensive support for children with SEND, ensuring all children progress from their individual starting points. Parents have noted their children's improved confidence in interacting with others.

SEND provision

Recent training has helped staff to extend their understanding of how to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Leaders and staff are proactive in involving outside agencies, including health professionals, to support children with SEND. The special educational needs coordinator spoke to the inspector about how they support children with SEND.

Outdoor space

Children are confident to play and explore, especially outdoors. For example, children learn to share as they play outdoors, waiting for tools to use in the sand and taking turns with the bikes. The inspector and the manager carried out joint observations outdoors.

Nice place. Receptionist bit too uninterested. Drinks not what they seem. What came out of Bacardi bottle was definitely not Bacardi. Barman was a character.

Wonderful facility, clean and well kept and maintained. 2 spacious halls, for parties, weddings, christenings, funerals etc. Also rooms for corporate bookings.

I always look forward to visiting here. The staff are helpful and friendly, prices r reasonable, it's suitable for different events, disabled toilet is one of the best equipped

I had gone here for a place for my daughter I gave them some forms to fill in for me went back the next day and the staff there were so rude especially the manager and one of the workers there I they had no manners of talking to me as I said is hiw long is the manager gonna be with the firms and the staff there said to me she is coming down and to wait for 10 minz the manger did not come down and u was standing outside for at least half hour when I knocked and asked again tl one of the staff there said you only been here for 10 minz and wait the manager didt turn up at all and the staff there were very rude and started to argue with me in front of the children there I'm so glad I never sent her there would definitely not recommend this nusery abousltley rubbish and not a good atmosphere for the children there 👎👎👎👎
