About this day nursery

Eccleston Park Day Nursery, established in 2019, offers childcare for children aged 0-4 years. Open Monday to Friday, all year round except for bank holidays, Christmas week and a week in the summer, sessions run from 7:30 am until 6:00 pm.

The nursery received a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 1 September 2021. Children at the nursery are described as secure and happy, becoming adventurous, eager learners who demonstrate excellent behaviour and self-assurance through consistent routines that promote independence.

" The curriculum is well-sequenced, challenging children's thinking and making learning fun through engaging activities, such as exploring the concepts of "fast" and "slow" with toy cars. The provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is a particular strength.

The dedicated SENCo integrates advice from specialist professionals into individual programmes and communicates these goals to staff, ensuring consistent teaching and good progress for children with SEND. Outdoor learning is encouraged, with staff teaching children to manage their own safety, for instance, by allowing only three children at a time on the outdoor wooden ship.

Staff also talk continuously with babies, helping them to develop language skills in a meaningful context. The nursery promotes early reading through interesting books, stories, local outings, and listening activities, helping pre-school children with word sounds.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

The provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is a strength of the nursery. The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) incorporates advice from specialist professionals into children's individual programmes and tells staff what children with SEND are aiming to achieve. This means that children benefit from consistent teaching that helps them to make good progress from their starting points.

Outdoor space

Staff make sensible assessments of hazards to children in the nursery. For example, they teach children why only three children at a time are allowed to play on the outdoor wooden ship. Children follow this rule and begin to manage their own safety.
