Inclusion & environment
Staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities well within the nursery. They work with parents and other agencies to ensure that children's individual needs are met.
Staff have designed the large garden area at the back of the setting to provide children with a range of opportunities. Children select bicycles and scooters and follow the painted road, learning to negotiate obstacles. At the back of the garden, children balance and climb, assessing risks for themselves as they negotiate the different apparatus. Staff enthusiastically lead children in a game of 'What's the time Mr Wolf' and there is ample space for children to run away.
I honestly can’t recommend Elm enough! Both of my children have been lucky to attend this nursery, and we’ve had such wonderful experiences each time. My older child, who’s now seven, went here before starting school and absolutely loved it. She was always so excited to go in every morning, and by the time she started reception she was confident, curious, and really well prepared. She still talks about her old teachers ( shout out to Lisa) and friends with such affection! Now my younger one, who’s two and a half, is currently there, and it’s just as amazing as I remember. The staff are so warm, patient, and genuinely caring. The outdoor garden is fantastic too; my little one comes home every day full of stories about what they did outside. ( his favorite teachers have been Shetel and Winfred and have creating an amazing bond with them. He enjoys all the love and cuddles he gets). The communication is great, the atmosphere is calm and happy, and you can really feel that the children are at the heart of everything they do. It’s such a comforting feeling knowing my child is so happy and well cared for.
Read on GoogleWe’ve had a great experience with our child coming to Elm Park for the last two years. The staff we’ve met have all been friendly and professional and there’s always been one or more members of staff in the room that our child has got on well with. Lots of time to play in the garden is great and there are fun extra activities like a music teacher and trips out to local places.
Read on GoogleWe wanted to share our experience to help other parents. After carefully choosing this nursery, we were excited for our son to start at the end of 2024. However, just a month before his start date, we came across recent reviews that raised concerns. We considered withdrawing our place but decided to speak with the management team first. Although it took some time to arrange a meeting, they reassured us that while there had been incidents reported to Ofsted, they explained line by line how they were actively addressing them. Their response felt sincere, so we decided to proceed and give it a month to see how things went. Looking back, we’re so glad we stayed. The staff is caring, professional, and genuinely invested in the children's well-being. Our son settled in quickly, and it’s amazing to see how happy he is—he actually runs into the nursery with excitement! The transition was smooth, and the team was very supportive during the settling-in process. Communication is excellent; they keep us updated throughout the day and call whenever necessary. We’ve also noticed improvements in safety, and overall organization. The nursery feels well-maintained, and the staff-to-child ratio ensures that children receive the attention they need. The balance between freedom and structure is just right, providing gentle yet firm guidance and support. The facilities are great, and one of the biggest highlights is the incredible outdoor space. The giant garden is a massive advantage, and our little one absolutely loves spending time outside. A huge thank you to the new management team for the hard work they’re putting in. They are doing a fantastic job, and a special mention to Winifred—she’s amazing!
Read on GoogleWe had to take our 2-year-old out of Elm Park Nursery following an investigation which found that a staff member in his class was mishandling the children. The investigation was launched because of obvious adult hand marks on one child. Following further review of CCTV, various examples of mishandling children were found. The staff member had been working there for at least 3 years. The staff member was dismissed, however, the nursery did not take appropriate measures to regain our trust. We were also present when a nursery child left the nursery on their own and was found wondering the streets. Regardless of this horrific incident, staffing and security issues remained and we didn't feel that our child's well-being was at the forefront. Issues kept arising and changes were not implemented (example finding 5-10 children alone with one staff member). What is also shocking is that we were raising concerns for six months and no one listened to us. Even calls to the safeguarding lead were not taken seriously. We are absolutely traumatised by this incident and the poor management of the situation and nursery by Bright Stars Ltd.
Read on GoogleI have two young children who attend this nurturing, safe and immensely friendly nursery, both of whom joined at 9 months and have been settled and happy since their early weeks there. The head and deputy have fostered an excellent team of teaching and caring staff, all of whom are diligent, affable, and attentive. Every member of staff will know the name of every child in the nursery, deepening the already apparent sense of community. I'm regularly impressed by the focus given to my children in their individual developmental needs, which is reflected in the carefully tailored daily teacher feedback. Careful planning is dedicated to the daily activities and the addition of music Emma on Wednesdays supplements that range of activity, and is always a highlight for my children. The garden was a huge appeal for us, and toddlers and babies alike will spend at least some time outside every day.
