About this day nursery

Embsay with Eastby Pre-School Playgroup is a long-standing, not-for-profit community organisation operating as a registered charity (number 1036590) for over 50 years. Established in 1967 by local parents, the playgroup maintains its founding values by offering a small, caring, friendly, and inclusive environment that prioritises each child's individual physical, emotional, social, communication, and intellectual development.

The setting welcomes children from two years old until they transition to primary school, providing a fun, exciting, and stimulating space for play and learning. The playgroup aims to help children explore their capabilities and limits while experiencing a variety of emotions within a flexible and supportive atmosphere.

Since April 2017, they have expanded their offerings to include an Out of School Club and holiday provision for children aged 5 to 12 through their Embsay Explorer’s Club. Being a member of the Early Years Alliance, the playgroup achieved an 'Outstanding' Ofsted judgement consecutively, with the latest in March 2022.

Ofsted highlighted the inspirational and highly competent staff, the parent management committee's commitment to excellence, children's rapid progress due to robust planning and assessment, and the superb partnership with parents that ensures children feel secure and prepared for future learning.
