Emma's Day Nursery offers two distinct childcare settings in Bournemouth, both celebrated for their 'Outstanding' OFSTED ratings. The Day Nursery, situated at 46 West Way, provides a nurturing home-like atmosphere for children aged 0-5 years, operating year-round with the exception of specific holidays.
This setting fosters self-confidence and social awareness through carefully planned learning experiences, managed by Emma Henwood, an expert in early and primary years education. It features dedicated rooms for various activities, including a creative blue room, a calmer yellow room, a bright green conservatory, and an art room, alongside baby-specific facilities.
Outdoors, a secure garden with a notable pirate ship encourages exploration and physical development. The Pre-School, located at Annunciation Church Hall, offers a flexible and welcoming environment for 2-5 year olds during term time.
Across both sites, there's a shared commitment to professional guidance, holistic child development within a secure setting, and a Christian ethos. The curriculum emphasises literacy, mathematics, and expressive arts, with structured daily activities promoting both individual and group learning, supported by nutritious meals and flexible rest arrangements.

Inspector highlights
Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
"Parent speak very highly of the setting."
"They state their children have made incredible progress and form close attachments, and their children's language has flourished."
Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive high-quality support to ensure they are fully included in all aspects of the provision. Staff use thorough assessments to quickly identify if a child is at risk of falling behind and work closely with parents and other professionals to ensure any additional funding for children has the most impact on their learning.
Children delight in finding book characters hidden around the garden, which supports their literacy development and interest in books.
By far the best nursery around, my son loves it so much he calls it “friend’s house” and gets excited about going. What more could you ask for?! OFSTED rated OUTSTANDING and I couldn’t agree more. The staff are fantastic, kind and caring, and the environment is happy, safe and full of fun.
