About this early years setting

Enriching Lives Pre-school, located at Langley Green Community Centre in Crawley, RH11 7PF, is a childcare setting on non-domestic premises, registered with Ofsted on 4th November 2024. While children generally enjoy their time and engage with a wide range of resources indoors and in the garden, the setting is currently undergoing significant improvements following an inspection that highlighted several areas needing urgent attention.

The report indicates that leaders and staff are actively working to address inconsistencies in behaviour management, curriculum delivery, and the support provided for children's individual learning needs. They are implementing new training programmes to strengthen staff knowledge and skills, particularly concerning child development, safeguarding, and supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Despite these challenges, the setting aims to foster an environment where children can make progress and feel safe, with ongoing efforts to enhance partnerships with parents and improve overall quality of provision.

What it's like

Children's experiences are not consistently matched to their stage of development, meaning some activities do not fully support their learning. Younger children are sometimes expected to join routines they find difficult to manage, while older children are not always offered experiences that extend their learning and development. At times, instructions are not clearly explained, which can lead to children feeling unsure or becoming upset. Some children rely heavily on particular staff members and find it harder to separate confidently. Although children learn safety rules, risks are not always checked thoroughly enough to ensure their safety, including at mealtimes. Not all children make the progress they need to be fully ready for their next stage in learning.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Leaders recognise they require further training to effectively support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities or other barriers to learning. They have plans in place to attend relevant training and work with external professionals, sharing what they know about the children and welcoming strategies, though these partnerships are not used consistently enough.

Outdoor space

Children enjoy a wide range of resources in the garden. The garden area is set up with a cosy space where children build with construction toys and relax on cushions. There are opportunities for children to be more active riding on bikes and using push-along toys such as dolly buggies.
