About this day nursery

Essex Road Pre-School, established in 2011, is a Good-rated childcare setting in Islington for children aged 2–4 years. Open during term time from 9am to 3pm, the pre-school provides a nurturing environment where children are happy and settled, separating from their parents and carers with ease.

Staff form strong bonds with children and families, responding promptly to their needs. The curriculum is designed to follow children's interests, with staff skilfully guiding their learning and encouraging exploration, particularly of the natural world.

Children enjoy daily outdoor play, developing good gross motor skills through running, balancing, and climbing. Staff extend this learning by discussing bugs and animals, fostering a sense of wonder about their surroundings.

The pre-school effectively supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, with staff working closely with parents and professionals. The manager judiciously uses additional funding, evidenced by the acquisition of sensory resources for a "quiet room" where children can relax and read.

Parents commend the kind and caring staff and are pleased with their children's progress and happiness at the nursery.
