About this day nursery

Finkley Nurseries, established in 2017 by early years expert Alison Dennis, provides outstanding care and education for children from three months to five years old. The nursery focuses on fostering a warm and engaging environment where children can learn, develop, and discover through hands-on play.

Starting with its first location at Finkley Down Farm in Andover, the group has expanded to include several other nurseries in East Anton, Weeke (Winchester), Hudson Fields (Salisbury), and Amesbury, with another setting planned for Overton in Autumn 2026. A distinctive feature of Finkley Nurseries is its emphasis on outdoor exploration, encouraging children to engage with nature in all weather conditions.

The curriculum integrates real-world experiences, such as visits to libraries, woodlands, and local attractions, to cultivate curiosity, self-assurance, and community engagement. Each nursery is thoughtfully designed to promote development through free-flow play, offering stimulating indoor and outdoor spaces such as spacious gardens, mud kitchens, vegetable patches, and sensory areas to inspire independence, imagination, and joy.

Finkley Nurseries is part of Attraction Nurseries, a network of childcare facilities connected to farm parks and family attractions across the UK, all dedicated to delivering meaningful and inspiring early years education.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff spoke to the inspector about how they support children with SEND. The provider addresses any concerns about children's progress and explains the support they provide.

Outdoor space

Children benefit from lots of physical activity and fresh air. They go for walks in the field, engaging with nature. Children use their muscles and practise balancing as they climb challenging and purposefully awkward shapes, such as old, large tractor tyres. Children use chalk outside to write letters from their names that they recognise. Children play with ride-on pedal tractors together while collecting cones, which they put into their trailers and deliver around the outdoor environment.

My daughter is so happy at HF, she gets excited to go every single morning and is so happy to see all of her friends. She is absolutely thriving in preschool and particularly loves soft play. As a parent, I love how much time she spends outside and the experience of the natural world & local community she is getting. The staff all nurture and love her and she always comes home talking about her favourite grownups, especially Beth and Jade. Cant thank HF enough for making her early years so much fun 🤍

Really happy with this nursery, lovely staff who genuinely care. We've kept our little one here even though it's not the closest to us, he is thriving and it's definitely worth the extra drive!
