About this day nursery

Firbobs is an out-of-school club operating across eight schools in the Wirral, founded in 2006 by Carrie. The establishment offers a nurturing environment where children, often referred to as 'Firbobs' – a term historically used for those born near the Higher Bebington Windmill – are encouraged to engage in free choice activities.

The philosophy is to provide an extension of home life rather than school, allowing children to follow their interests. This approach also extends to their Holiday Club, where children's ideas heavily influence the planned outings and activities.

Firbobs prides itself on its strong sense of community, with many staff members having long tenures, and even former attendees returning as young playworkers, creating a family-like atmosphere that spans generations.

Our ethos

What it's like

Children thrive at this welcoming and inclusive club. Staff listen wholeheartedly to children and consider their views and interests as they support them to contribute to the detailed planning of activities. Children delight in the range of activities provided, which are not only based on their interests but also successfully complement children's learning in school.

Pricing & funding

Daily – 18 yrs and above $10.00 5 yrs- 17 yrs $7.00 Under 5 free (Daytime visitors must leave by 9 pm, maximum of 8 Visitors per site) Overnight – $12.50 Pet Charges $5.00 per night.
