Flying Start Day Nursery operates two dedicated settings in Ashtead, located just 500 meters apart, with Barnesmead being one of them. The nursery prides itself on its family-run ethos, aiming to create a 'home from home' atmosphere where each child is recognised and nurtured as an individual.
The Barnesmead site caters to children across various age groups, with a specific focus on the unique developmental needs of infants and toddlers. The environment for the youngest children (under 2s) is thoughtfully designed with separate areas, including a dedicated cot room and changing facilities, ensuring a safe and stimulating space for them to explore.
As children grow, they transition into older areas that support their expanding capabilities within the Prime Areas of Learning. How they support every child
SEND provision
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are provided with very high-quality support. Staff are dedicated and determined to ensure that all children access the support they need and are highly trained to deliver sessions to support specific needs. The special educational needs coordinator spoke to the inspector about how they support children with SEND.
Outdoor space
The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact that this was having on children's learning.
