Folly Farm Day Nursery, situated in the rural village of Tickenham, provides childcare for children aged 6 months to 5 years. Open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm, the nursery offers a nurturing environment within a house surrounded by fields and woodlands.

The nursery is led by Emma, the nursery provider, and Charlotte, the nursery manager, and received a "Good" Ofsted inspection in June 2022. Folly Farm Day Nursery focuses on building strong relationships with families, acknowledging their unique backgrounds and cultures.

They aim to foster individuality and support children in becoming happy, curious, resilient, capable, confident, and self-assured learners. The nursery incorporates "loose parts and risky play" and aspects of the curiosity approach to achieve its developmental goals.

The facility is divided into a "Baby Barn" for children aged 6 months to 2 years and an "Orchard" space for those aged 18 months to 5 years.

Pricing & funding

Fees are charged monthly and are based on the child's age, automatically decreasing the week after their birthday. The nursery operates year-round, closing for bank holidays and the Christmas period, with no charges applied for bank holiday closures.

Good to know

  • Registration fees are non-refundable under any circumstance.
  • An 8-week written notice period is required to change scheduled sessions.
  • Invoices are billed monthly and must be paid in full by the second Friday of the month.
  • Fees are charged for sickness and holidays; session swaps are not permitted.
  • No fees are charged for bank holidays, Christmas closure, or scheduled staff training days.
  • Fees automatically decrease the week after a child's birthday.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is strong. The nursery's special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) works closely with staff to provide an inclusive environment and implements clear strategies in close partnerships with parents and other professionals, contributing to children's rapid progress.

Outdoor space

Children have opportunities to develop their physical skills. In the large garden, children enjoy climbing up and rolling down the grass hill, using the climbing frame and wheeled toys. Children are given numerous opportunities to learn outside in all weathers, with babies jumping and splashing in puddles, and older children developing physical skills in challenging gardens.

Went here for a wedding. Was an incredible weekend with a beautiful view. Food was delicious and always served with a smile. Great set up for a night after wedding. Special mention to eve and Emma who were working the bar and always greeted us with a smile and good conversation. Best duo out there!
