Inspected by Ofsted on 21st February 2023, the pre-school received an overall "Good" rating. Children at Forest Bears Pre-School are described as confident and eager to learn, quickly settling into a variety of activities and happily exploring both independently and with friends.

The setting places a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, with children enjoying ample opportunities to practice physical skills like riding bicycles, developing ball skills, and running in the garden. Daily yoga sessions also help children to master different body poses, strengthening their balance and aerobic capacity.

The pre-school excels in its provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Staff are proactive in identifying specific needs through assessments and observations, seeking appropriate advice, and sharing any emerging gaps in learning with the SENCo and parents.

This collaborative approach ensures children with SEND make progress comparably to their peers. Children also engage in community events, fostering an understanding of the world around them, such as planting bulbs with community members.

SEND provision

The setting's provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is a strength. Staff swiftly identify any specific needs through assessments and observations and seek appropriate advice. Emerging gaps in children's learning are shared with the special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) and parents, enabling children with SEND to make progress equally as well as their peers.

Outdoor space

Children love being active outdoors and have ample opportunities to practise their physical skills, such as riding bicycles, developing ball skills and running in the garden. Children participate in daily yoga sessions, mastering different body poses.
