About this day nursery

Goldilocks Nursery in Ashford, established in 2002, is part of the Goldilocks nurseries group and provides a nurturing, homely environment with 58 available places. The nursery is thoughtfully laid out with a dedicated baby room for infants aged 3 months to 2 years situated on the first floor.

Toddlers, aged 2 to 3 years, and pre-school children, aged 3 to 5 years, have their learning areas on the ground floor. The nursery boasts well-equipped indoor spaces complemented by excellent outdoor facilities, including Astroturf for all-weather play.

The pre-school room is particularly well-resourced, featuring tabletop tablets to aid in preparing children for their transition to school. Meals and healthy snacks are prepared on-site by the nursery's own cook, with a focus on balanced nutrition.

Safety is paramount, with rigorous access control and CCTV systems in place. Conveniently located within a minute's walk of Ashford town centre, the nursery is set on a peaceful rural road, also offering easy access to Ashford International.

Our ethos

Our goal is to ensure that we provide the highest quality childcare that is accessible and affordable. We aim to help children become successful learners and confident individuals. To accomplish this, we give children opportunities to develop at their own pace through constructive progressive play. We also have good links with speech & language early years advisors and specialist teachers. Your children will be safe, loved and stimulated in an enjoyable, well-maintained and home-style environment. Our objective is for your child to leave our nursery with the confidence and skills to help them meet the challenges that lie ahead in the school system and beyond. We passionately believe this is to be a joint effort between the nursery and parents, and to that end we will promote a healthy understanding and respect for natural values in all aspects of the nursery environment.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported well by the manager and the special educational needs coordinator (SENCo). The SENCo works well with outside professionals and uses their advice at the nursery. This helps children to progress in particular areas, and supports parents at home.

Outdoor space

Children in the baby room have opportunities to develop their physical skills, including their own outdoor space. Children based in all three group rooms have opportunities to spend time outside.

We unfortunately had to move our child due to ongoing staffing and capacity issues. The rooms felt small and the environment often overcrowded. Staffing pressures seemed to affect the consistency of care, and communication was sometimes unclear or inconsistent. We didn’t feel confident the setting could meet our child’s needs, so we chose to move elsewhere, where our child has since settled much better.

I can’t describe in words my gratitude towards the staff at Goldilocks The environment is warm, safe, and full of engaging activities that have truly helped our daughter grow in confidence and curiosity. The teachers are not only caring and attentive but also incredibly skilled at supporting each child’s unique needs. We’ve seen such amazing progress in our daughters communication, creativity, and social skills, especially her first language is not English they help her so much to grow her confidence as she is quite shy We’re so grateful to have found a nursery that feels like a second home. Highly recommended to any parent looking for a nurturing and inspiring early years setting!

Outstanding. My son has joined Goldilocks part-time during term time and full-time during holidays. Our experience so far has been fantastic. Our son struggles with change but they have accommodated supporting him to feel more confident and he now absolutely loves attending. We receive regular updates and it is great to see him engaged in a variety of activities in and out of the setting. I am also really pleased with the variety and healthy, balanced meals he is provided as part of the fees payable. All in all, we would recommend Goldilocks.

My child's experience at Goldilocks has been nothing short of delightful. After two challenging experiences at other nurseries in Ashford, we finally found a place where my little one is not just well looked after but also happy. The staff here are incredibly warm and attentive, ensuring that my child is always well-fed and impeccably clean. I've never encountered any issues, and the invoicing team has been exceptionally supportive during my transition from unemployment to a new job. The manager's kindness and dedication truly make Goldilocks feel like a second home for my child

I've recently had several interactions with this nursery and unfortunately have found them to sadly lacking in almost every respect. They were unhelpful, unorganised, unsafe and sadly also extremely untruthful in their dealings with me. Indeed, the whole experience can only be described as a nightmare for both me and my child.
