About this day nursery

Happy Hedgehogs is an Ofsted-registered nursery and pre-school located in the serene, rural village of Appleby Magna, operating out of the Sir John Moore Foundation. The nursery, which expanded in August 2018 to include a baby room alongside its pre-existing pre-school room, now caters to children aged 0-5 years.

Happy Hedgehogs is open all year round, with the exception of a two-week closure period over Christmas. The nursery operates every weekday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, providing a breakfast club from 7:30 am and an after-school club from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

During school holidays, a holiday club is also available for children up to 12 years old. The primary goal of Happy Hedgehogs is to foster a joyful, supportive, and safe atmosphere where every child can flourish and develop as a unique individual.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported. Staff liaise with parents frequently to share information to maintain a consistent approach. They work with other professionals to implement strategies to help children make progress.

Outdoor space

Children thoroughly enjoy their time in the outdoor environment. They develop physical skills as they use spades to dig and find hidden items, and use their creative and imaginative skills to make mud pies and mud milkshakes.

An incredible nursery! My little girl has settled in so well here and the staff are fantastic and can’t do enough for your child or for you on ensuring you that your little one is doing well, nothing is ever to much trouble and I’m so pleased with the place!
