About this day nursery

Harlequin Nursery & Pre-School, established in 1992, is situated overlooking the sea near Peasholm Park in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. This nursery caters to children aged 3 months to 5 years, operating 50 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 17:45, excluding Bank Holidays and a two-week closure for Christmas.

The nursery aims to provide a stimulating and happy environment with a strong focus on high-quality care and education. Children are encouraged to interact and play together, fostering the development of their physical and social skills.

The curriculum employs a STEM programme, allowing children to engage in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics activities. This approach encourages exploration, observation, questioning, and the enhancement of skills like reasoning, predicting, hypothesising, and problem-solving.

The facility itself is a bright and spacious house featuring three separate nursery rooms and three outdoor learning environments, each tailored to different age groups and equipped with appropriate learning materials. The staff are qualified, experienced, and dedicated, with individual progress carefully monitored and achievements recorded.

The nursery is managed by Nadine and Leanne, both with over 20 years of experience in day nurseries, while Garry oversees financial governance. Children have daily access to outdoor learning environments, with protective clothing provided.

The nursery also facilitates pre-start visits to help children and parents acclimate to the environment and staff.

Our little girl has been attending Harlequin Nursery since she was one and has experienced all 3 of the rooms there. They are all wonderfully decorated and equipped with age appropriate toys and activities. All of the staff are friendly and approachable and clearly love working with the children. The meals and snacks that are served are all freshly made in the premises and the children are offered a wide selection of different meals on a weekly menu basis. The outdoor play area is lovely especially the pet rabbits! I would highly recommend Harlequin to anyone looking for a nursery for babies up to pre school aged children.
