About this day nursery

Seedlings Nursery and Pre-school, located in Scarborough town centre, is a newly established childcare setting owned by Frances James, who also owns the long-standing Kiddiwinks Nursery. Catering to children from birth to 7 years old, Seedlings has a capacity for 48 children, including a dedicated baby room for eight infants.

The nursery prides itself on its highly qualified staff, with some holding teacher qualifications. Nutritious home-cooked meals are provided, accommodating all dietary needs.

A unique feature of the nursery is its sensory room, equipped with a large bubble machine and sensory mood table, accessible to all children. Additionally, Seedlings offers a good-sized outdoor area for a town nursery, featuring both hardstanding for bikes and a grassed area for various activities.

The facility includes separate rooms tailored for 2 and 3-year-olds. The nursery operates year-round from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm, observing closures on bank holidays and for a week between Christmas and New Year.

They are also members of the National Day Nursery Association.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Key staff know their key children very well, particularly those who support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. They work closely with parents and other professionals to find out what children can already do, promoting continuity of learning and building secure foundations for the future. The manager recognised that staff needed to focus on promoting children's language skills, and some staff have accessed Makaton training to help children communicate their needs.
